Jiah Khan Biography

Jiah Khan born on February 20th, 1988 in New York, USA is a multi-talented girl and a promising young Bollywood actress.

Born to actress Rabiya, Jiah Khan grew with a passion to become an actress, singer, and a dancer. Brought up in London, Jiah Khan also has formal training in classical opera and can perform pretty well on the Piano. She even recorded six songs but couldn't bring them out due to financial constraints. Jiah also learnt seven forms of dancing. Today she is considered an excellent dancer in Kathak, Lambada, Samba, Jazz, Reggae, Salsa, and Belly dancing. She also finished her A levels in Film Studies and Literature in London. In spite of her having multi-faceted talents, it is acting that is her passion and her first love and everything takes a backseat when it comes to acting.

She was supposed to make her Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt's "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" {2004}, but strangely the role went to Dia Mirza. Initially Mahesh Bhatt discovered Jiah Khan, when he was invited to a small tea party by Jiah's mother in London. He was all agog over Jiah Khan and her real talent and powerful screen presence. He even finalized her for "Tumsa Nahin Dekha". But as things stand out nothing of the sort happened and Jiah lost out to Dia Mirza.

Three years later, "Nishabd" {2007} came her way directed by Bollywood's sensational director, Ram Gopal Varma, who completed the movie in flat twenty days. In the movie, Jiah Khan portrays the character of a young woman falling in love with a much older man thrice her age played by Indian movie Icon, Amitabh Bachchan. The beautiful actress received critical acclaim for her wonderful performance.

While shooting for the movie, Jiah was pretty much at ease and was seldom nervous considering her co-star was none other than the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. Later speaking to a reporter, she conceded the fact saying, "I wasn’t that much aware of his superstar status. It was only after I finished Nishabd and came back to India that I found out that he was an icon. Had I known this before, I wouldn’t have been able to do the film".

Jiah Khan is all set to appear opposite Bollywood's finest actor Aamir Khan in the Hindi version of Tamil film "Ghazini" directed by A R Murugadoss, the famous South Indian director who directed the original version.

Jiah Khan has also recently released a music album called "Take Lite" in which she displayed her wonderful singing and dancing talents. She is also planning to release another music album in which she experiments in blending pop and lounge music in fusion.
